Tucked away in the heart of the 6th (the exterior is so understated, you could easily walk right past it), Allard is a story about a peasant woman named Marthe Allard who moved from her small village in Burgundy to the city of lights with only a book of her mother's recipes and the dream of opening her own restaurant in the heart of Paris. Established in 1932 on the site of a former wine store, Allard quickly became the local "bistrot familial" offering traditional, simple French fare with white table cloth service throughout three generations of culinary vision. Since 2013 it has been in the hands of renowned restauranteur Alain Ducasse who has continued in the tradition of the bistrot's heritage, drawing inspiration from its founders. Not too shabby.
