Exactly the kind of hotel you would expect to find in the center of Reykjavik: modern, warm, efficient, and loaded with geothermal pools. The monochromatic design of this 38 room boutique hotel is kept warm with lots of wood, burlap, skins, fire places, and a gorgeous art collection. The heart of the hotel is their restaurant, Kitchen & Wine, is one of the trendiest places in town and serves delicious food, featuring a combination of modern Icelandic and international cuisine.

Designed by goCstudio, this privately owned sauna was built to be used year round on Seattle's Union Lake. The vessel -- large enough to accommodate up to 6 people -- is powered by an electronic motor and is heated with a wood burning stove. Guests can either dive off the rooftop platform, or soak in some rays on the bathing deck.
Repurposed salt & pepper shakers, these unicorns are now being put to some hard work: dispensing sparkles in every color of the rainbow. But this isn't your run of the mill everyday sparkles -- these neon sparkles will glow in the dark.

This little known Japanese snack bar that recently opened just off of the Dundas West strip nearly blew my mind. Tucked away in what was a former beauty salon, HANMOTO offers a selection of Asian fusion raw & hot items meant to be scarfed down with booze. Things like: a take on the Moto Bun, a fried coco bun filled with Japanese chicken curry and Jamaican slaw; and something called Dyno Wings, deep-fried, deboned chicken wings stuffed dumpling-style with seasoned ground pork, then tossed in a spicy house-made sauce; and a killer salmon sashimi plate diced into little bits of heaven that melt in your mouth.

Two of our favorite things that we've mentioned to you before -- Berlin's BIKINI HOTEL and REBECCA LOUISE LAW -- are at it, again. But this time, it's together. To mark its Spring season, Bikini Berlin has commissioned British artist Rebecca Louise Law to create a hanging artwork made out of 30,000 flowers. The artwork is titled ‘Garten’ and took four days to install. The installation was unveiled this week and will remain in place until May 1.
A little while ago we reported on the amazing MAMA SHELTER hotel in Paris. We are happy to announce that they have recently opened another location in Hollywood, CA. These founders of Club Med (yes, that's right -- hands up, baby hands up) have recreated their cool digs just blocks from the trappings of the Chinese Theater and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Refreshing is again their eclectic aesthetic, their nod to things vintage, and to their kind of rock and roll attitude.

As a somewhat self proclaimed seasoned traveler, I am generally happy when my luggage takes me from A to B, and is always there waiting for me at luggage claim -- in tact and pretty. But even for the most seasoned of travelers, it's always nice when things can be simplified, even if just a little.
Here to help is RADEN, a newly born company out of New York making big promises, and delivering on them too. These hard-shelled, high tech luggage pieces will keep you from overpacking, charge your phone, alert you to traffic on the way to the airport and weather conditions on the area. It will also track your bag's location using Bluetooth technology, so you can know once you’ve landed that it made the trip with you.
